Hrdaya Yoga International is an expresion of yoga as taught and practiced by Jonathan Evatt.

For Jonathan yogic awareness arose spontaneously in his youth. From as early as he can recall, Jonathan was aware of the subtle underlying realities within his life and the world around him. Since that time he was prone to questioning anything that did not make sense according to the wisdom within the Heart. In his experience this meant questioning, and later investigating, most of the social, religious, medical, and political structures of the world in which he was raised.

In his early teens Jonathan started to practice yoga asana from an old book he found on the bookshelf in his mother’s home. The book was from the 1960′s and it gave a very simple outline of yoga principles and yoga asana. He also read an old copy of Zen Mind, Beginners Mind at that time and after this he started to actively practice sitting meditation. In his mid-teens Jonathan read a book on the cultivation of female sexual energy. What he read made perfect sense to him, so he obtained a book on similar practices for men, and started to practice working with his chi and sexual energy on an almost daily basis before and after school.

In his late teens Jonathan met two advanced Yogis and moved to live with them. He remain in active contact with them over the next 7 years. Since that time he has met and spent time with numerous living masters around the world. He has spent time with Hawaiian Kahuna (Shaman/Priests), Amazonian shamans, advanced yogis, Buddhist masters, master healers, and more. During this time Jonathan has remembered wisdom and knowledge that has been with Man throughout time, in all ages and eras.

He now actively travels the world sharing this knowledge through a wide range of topics taught in workshops and retreats. This website arose out of the Hrdaya Yoga Retreats Jonathan has been leading. His intention for this site is to provide those who are interested with an easy and accessible taste of the essence of Yoga.
